The Steel Cargo Boat “Union Express” that was moored in the Frigate “Rock” area, Union Island, St Vincent and the Grenadines, was reported missing on Sunday 21st June 2015.
The steel motor boat painted in blue and measuring approximately 80 feet in length, was used to carry cargo between Trinidad, Union Island and St Vincent.
It was undergoing repairs for some months now where it was moored before it went missing. No none was reported to be aboard at the time of the disappearance.
The boat is owned by Johnson Cox of Union Island who is currently out of the country. Caretakers for the boat reported that an aerial search as well as a search with other boats was done on Monday but was unable to locate the missing vessel.
When Radio Grenadines spoke to Peter Stewart, who is assisting in the search, about what he thinks may have happened, he stated “I find it hard to believe it was pulled off the anchor and went adrift, but its not impossible.”
The SVG Coast Guard received the information on the missing vessel and is currently assisting.
“Union Express” was prior painted Grey when it first arrived in Union Island.
Stewart is asking persons with any information about the vessel to call 784-527-5091 or to inbox him on Facebook with details.
